Before it became a market leader in consumer electronics, Apple first gained its prestige by manufacturing personal computers such as the Macintosh and Apple II. The company, however, experienced some downturns as its sales decreased during the 90s. However, after being kicked out of the company for a long time, Steve Jobs took over the helm of Apple again in 1996 with a new philosophy that started the iPod revolution, which was followed by a string of now popular products.
With simple design and recognizable product as its main philosophy, Steve Jobs introduced the iPod in 2001 and also dropped the name ‘computer’ from its name. That also signalled its departure from being a computer manufacturer to focusing in consumer electronics.
The Smartphone Called iPhone
Who hasn’t heard about the iPhone? Even kids as young as five years old are now familiar what an iPhone is. The appeal that this mobile phone has to all kinds of people anywhere in the world is boundless. If iPhone were a language, then it has taken over the place of English as the major language of the world. The appeal and charisma of this product is an enigma considering there are a lot of Smartphones which are cheaper and have the same features as the iPhone. But why would people endure standing in long lines for hours, even days, just to get the latest iPhone model? All iPhone fanatics will most likely be able to give you a hundred and one reasons to convince even the cynic why the iPhone is the best. There might be a hundred reasons, but here are the five most notable features which makes the iPhone unique and a cut above the rest.
iOS Operating System
iOS is one of the most important features of a Smartphone is its operating system. As the iPhone continues to evolve, so does its operating system. The iPhone 5 is now running on the iOS 6 which is packed with more than 200 amazing features.
Some of these features include parental controls which lets you monitor and control what your children are accessing or using. It also has voice-over screen reading capability which allows people with poor vision to listen to what is on the screen.
Siri
If you have seen the 4th generation of iPhone, you have most likely also met Siri, your personal assistant. With Siri, Smartphones are really what they are – phones that are smart. You can almost tell Siri to do everything for you and she understands perfectly well and sets to do the task you are commanding it to do.
Siri can talk, write, and helps you with your daily tasks. If you want to be reminded about a certain date, she does not only take down notes but she repeats what you say in her own words confirming that she has understood what you mean and writes it down.
If you want it to text someone, you just dictate what you want on your message, after which it automatically sends. You can also ask the weather and she responds to you – even giving you advice whether or not you should take an umbrella.
iSight Camera
iSight Camera is an 8 megapixel camera that allows you to record a 1080p HD video. Aside from the megapixels, the camera has an f/2.4 aperture which automatically adjusts the light and gives you more life-like colour in your images. It also has a lock screen so you can freeze the image or action you want to capture and then snap a photo – nothing is missed with the iSight camera. Aside from these, it can also identify and focus up to 10 faces in a photo to give it better and clearer quality. However, the most remarkable thing about the iPhone display is its retina Display which is so life-like you can’t even see the pixels.
iCloud Storage and Syncing
The iCloud lets you view everything in your iPhone on all your other devices. You can download a song, take a picture, edit or write a document on your iPhone and you can also see them and do them on your other Apple devices. In short, you can start it on your iPhone and finish it on your iPad or Macbook.
Dual Core A6 Chip
What does an A6 Processor mean for you? It simply means that you have twice the power and seven times faster graphic effects making your games and your movies more exciting and realistic. It also means that your battery life is longer.
